4.5 stars. I have wondered what Ash's story would be like and I have to say it lived up to being part of the Swoon series. Ash and Mack are such great characters, they are strong, vulnerable, kind, loving, honest, trustworthy, and each have their own issues they are struggling to deal with. I really loved their journey, it was written so well, and I couldn't put it down. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an ARC.

The story starts at a bar and it’s a coincidence that these two, Mack and Ash who know each other from Stolen Hearts Valley, North Carolina, living separate lives for years, were in same state (Wyoming), same town, same bar, at the exact same time. OK, getting past that, the story was very well written and sexy. The main characters had major chemistry and their intimate scenes were delicious. They both also had drama in their past that they needed to work out. The book was entertaining with a wonderful surprise towards the end. Other main characters in previous Swoon series books were prevalent throughout which was a wonderful addition to this story. I did not feel the book cover matched the description of Mack which is a pet peeve of mine. Mack is 6’5”, built, Fire Fighter/First Responder, rugged. I received an arc and voluntarily left an honest review.

He never reacted to her before so why now? I always enjoy the books in this series and love that they can be read without the others. In this one Ash is working her way back to Stolen Hearts Valley when she grew up. She is fed up with men and has sworn them off. She has a few gigs booked to help her get back in a round about way. Mack, her older brother's best friend, happens to be at one of her gigs and offers to give her a ride back when he found out she has been hitchhiking her way there. Along the way Mack finds he has chemistry with Ash and when she is mad at the way he is acting and says she'll just go back to hitchhiking, he kisses her. Mack finds it hard to stay away from Ash and they agree that they are just letting it play out. When they get back to Stolen Hearts Valley , Ash wants to keep whatever is happening between them a secret and Mack wants to let her brother know about them. He complies with her wishes but wonders how long this will last or be a secret.
