IDFR 2022 - Video message from H.E. Abdulla Shahid, 76th President of the UN General Assembly

After two years of distancing and virtual gatherings, this year, the IDFR community has finally met again in person.

The IDFR observance events built on the National Remittance Stakeholder Networks (NRSNs) in Ghana, Kenya, The Gambia and the newly-established in South Africa – set up as part of the PRIME Africa initiative, to engage national private and public sector stakeholders and share practices, experiences and stories on leveraging the impact of remittances for migrants and their families.

In addition to the in-country events, IFAD hosted a virtual observance on 16 June at 9 AM EST | 3 PM CET, which saw and extensive participation of United Nations’ dignitaries and Member States, as well as private and public sector representatives engaged in the remittance ecosystem.

Each event highlighted the crucial role of migrants’ contribution to the wellbeing of their families back home. Furthermore, the events gave an opportunity for key actors of the remittance ecosystem to engage and network to spur digital and financial inclusion towards greater recovery and resilience.
