Local Writers Stage
Building on the success of our Local Writers' Night for last year's Burnley Words Festival, we are hosting several similar events across the year with Burnley Mechanics Front Room.

This is an open call for anyone in the Burnley area who considers themselves a writer to come along and share some of your work with us. This is a spoken word night, so while there are no limitations on genre, we ask that you consider which of your pieces works best read aloud on a stage!

Depending on demand, everyone will be allocated a 5- 10-minute slot, which we will confirm with you in advance. We expect anyone signing up for a slot to attend the event and support their fellow writers!  We aim to confirm your spot with you three weeks before the date you have signed up for!  We will have a limited number of spots available for each event.

This event celebrates writing and community; we welcome new and established writers. We are an inclusive organisation funded by public funding and reserve the right to refuse a spot to anyone who promotes violence or hate speech. We are committed to offering a diverse and inclusive programme at all our events.

If you're not a writer or performer but would love to support our local talent, this event will be free to attend /Pay What You Decide, and tickets can be booked in advance via the Burnley Mechanics Website.
