13.50 – 14.20 The Digital Markets Act: overview of its architecture and contents
In this presentation, Sophie Wiedijk and Vlad Roman (DMA Taskforce, DG COMP) will provide an overview of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) that entered into force on 1 November 2022. They will discuss what led to the introduction of ex ante rules for digital gatekeepers and what the aims of the DMA are. Further, they will explain the architecture of the DMA, from the designation of gatekeepers to the obligations they have to comply with and discuss what governance and enforcement will look like. Finally, they will describe the next steps to be taken before designated gatekeepers have to comply with the DMA.
