Dear WMS Families,
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying some relaxing downtime with their loved ones. It is hard to believe we are halfway through July and August is right around the corner. When we surveyed our community about starting school about a month ago, most families were ready to return. With COVID-19 numbers continuing to rise in Houston, many parents are reconsidering that decision.
We are anxious to bring students and staff back to school for in-person instruction, but we must do so safely. We will start the school year online for Elementary and Middle School students, and we will have in-person classes for Toddler and Primary School students. We know that many parents and students are disappointed by this decision, which may complicate many individual family situations.
Our ever-evolving COVID-19 Handbook is updated to reflect this information. We have received your feedback and added more details to page 17-18 featuring the COVID-19 Alert Level by color. Please review these changes and reach out to our administrative staff if you have any questions. Even though the 2020-2021 school year will begin differently, it is important to know we will be flexible, work together, persevere, and ensure that our students are supported in every way possible.
Online Distance Learning for Elementary School will be August 11–September 25. We will assess the COVID-19 Alert Level on September 8 and determine if in-person classes will begin for the Elementary School on September 28.
As always, I am available if you have any questions or concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact me.
Warm regards,
Bonita L. Lea
Head of School
