Episode 10

SCD: What Physicians Can Learn From Patients And Carriers (Episode 1)

This podcast series brings together people affected by SCD and specialist hematologists to shed light on this widely misunderstood condition, bringing the guidelines to life and helping healthcare professionals improve their practice by understanding the patient experience.

In this first episode, consultant hematologist Dr Jo Howard has a conversation with two individuals affected by sickle cell disease (SCD) and sickle cell trait (SCT). They discuss the impact that the condition has on their personal and family lives, common misconceptions about the SCD experience, areas where treatment frequently falls short, and how to raise awareness further.

SCD: What Physicians Can Learn From Patients And Carriers is a three-episode podcast series with the first one created to mark Black History Month 2021. It is a collaboration between EHA and Obsidian Healthcare Group, a global provider of medical education.

Host: Dr Jo Howard
