STEAM TRANSFER Conference
September 28 & 29, 2023 | Atelierhaus of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna
The STEAM TRANSFER conference is coordinated by the Knowledge Transfer Center of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and was initiated as part of the cooperation project "From STEM to STEAM" of the Knowledge Transfer Center East and the Knowledge Transfer Center West.
STEAM TRANSFER is a bridge between artistic-creative, artistic-research areas and STEM disciplines. The interdisciplinary collaboration focuses on current social challenges, which are addressed under the term "Triple Transition" (Green, Digital, Social). In this context, the humanities, social sciences, cultural sciences and the arts are called upon to work together with mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology on effective solutions for a good future. The STEAM TRANSFER conference offers a platform to promote the exchange and transfer of these fields, but also to bring the possibilities and opportunities of this cooperation closer to a broader public.
As part of the From STEM to STEAM cooperation project, which was launched in 2022 in a network of universities, universities of applied sciences and associated partners, four thematic areas have therefore been identified that address various transfer fields aimed at lifelong learning and research and are directly related to current social challenges.
STEAM SKILLS focuses on artistic-creative, transformative and future human skills, which are linked to other important human/non-human skills.
STEAM GREEN addresses the questions and challenges of a green transformation and attempts to develop tools, formats and potentials in the course of knowledge transfer in order to promote an ecologically sustainable future.
STEAM IMPACT is dedicated to an impact-oriented organization of knowledge transfer activities in the STEAM segment based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in order to test new forms of communication.
STEAM HEI (Higher Education Institutions) discusses the role of Austrian universities and universities of applied sciences in the European HEI segment and the associated orientation towards overall societal transformation processes.
