UPDATE: VDH releases new health district-specific report on COVID-19 infection reduction

It seems Virginia is following the NYC model, instead of the highly successful Florida model.

This is likely the longest article The Fauquier Times has ever run…it’s almost as long as my Master’s thesis.

That said, I read it all, appreciated the culmination and analysis of data, and understand that this pandemic is completely unique…hence its name…Novel Coronavirus.

The intellectually lazy, rabid tRump* supporters, and those who prefer convenient propaganda to facts, will dismiss the data and stubbornly attempt to resume “life as normal”. Although 100,000 reported American deaths in several months and almost 2,000,000 reported Covid-19 cases (with minimal effective testing) do not constitute a “normal” situation.

Fact is, the virus is NOT partisan; it doesn’t care who you vote for. If you don’t wear a mask, you are making yourself vulnerable. If you don’t social distance and practice routine hand washing, you are making yourself vulnerable. That’s your problem.

Want to be a “tough guy” like tRump* and not smear your makeup with a mask? Can you get daily testing like he does? No. Can you demand everyone around you wear a mask and be tested like he does? No.

All of that for he, none of that for thee…but he wants you back out there to pump his numbers and his example is without a mask.

What becomes everyone’s problem is when you are potentially spreading the disease to the rest of us and your families with your selfish, ignorant posturing. There is no Covid-19 vaccine and may not be for many years. That’s right, educate yourself and see how long it usually takes…tRump’s claims are considered absurd by anyone in the medical community (or an IQ over room temperature).

If you have any hope of us starting on the long road to re-opening, you will follow the advice of the CDC and other scientists here and around the world, who endorse common sense and slow steps toward that end.

There are plenty Americans who will not join the ignorant folly of tRump* and his elites who are tested daily and couldn’t care less about those of us who do not make 6 figure campaign donations.

My life and those of my family are infinitely more important than tRump’s* obsession with re-election. Staying home is the safe alternative, wearing a mask when one must go out is not much of a sacrifice compared to what those who came before us gave up for our country.
