Welcome to our climate hub!

The food and beverage industry is responsible for a significant percentage of global greenhouse gases. That is a major responsibility, but at the same time it offers an opportunity for us to improve and work together. Gall & Gall and Albert Heijn want to adopt an ambitious and tangible role in the movement towards a livable earth. As part of the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi), Gall & Gall and Albert Heijn aim to achieve a 45% reduction in carbon emissions in their supply chains by 2030, compared to 2018. In that context, we are looking forward to working with all our suppliers to report progress annually.

We ask all our suppliers to:

  1. Report 2022 Scope 1-2-3 carbon emissions plans before 30 September 2023. From 2024, this will become an annual process, in which we ask suppliers to report on the previous reporting year with an annual deadline of June 30. Suppliers who already report via the global climate benchmark CDP are requested to link their supply chain emissions in the CDP supply chain module. Other suppliers are requested to report via the ImpactBuying reporting platform.
  2. Develop and validate climate targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)

Where to start?

We have created this website to guide our suppliers in taking the next steps in your climate journey. In general, there are three areas to work in, being Carbon Footprinting, Climate Targetsetting and Climate Reporting.
Please use the following guiding questions to navigate our climate hub.
1.     Has your organisation already committed to the Science Based Targets initiative?
·       Yes, we have. In that case, please make sure to follow the guidance documents available under Climate Targetsetting and start the reporting process under Climate Reporting.
·       No, not yet. In that case, please follow the instructions under Climate Targetsetting.
2.     Has your organisation already calculated Scope 1-2 and Scope 3 emissions?
·       Yes, we have. In that case, please follow the instructions under Climate Reporting.
·       No, not yet. In that case, please follow steps 1 to 4 (and optionally steps 5 to 7) under Carbon Footprinting.
