Kat, Knight Watch Badges

I never believed in love at first sight...

Until the ATM ate my debit card,
And Jackson Boudreaux stepped in to save the day.
All business, in his nine to five banker suit--
I couldn’t help but wonder what he was hiding under that perfect form.

I was leather and handcuffs.
He was ties and cuff-links,
But it didn't matter that we were from two different worlds.
Once we collided there was no going back.

Neither of us were ready for love…
He came with baggage and drama not to mention a young son.
I avoided drama like the plague and avoided little kids even more.

Kat, Night Watch Badges is book 11 in Iron Orchids series by Danielle Norman. This is
Kat and Jackson's story.
Kat is this amazing, strong , protective, beautiful, fierce woman who's part of the Sheriffs department as a motorcycle cop with the rest of her girl gang. She is single, has 4 sisters and isn't ready to settle down, get married or have kids.
Things change when she meets her new sexy as you know what neighbor, Jackson. Then she starts to possibly rethink things, then well until she learns he is a single dad that has a looney tooney ex.
Jackson has just moved to town and is the bank's new bank manager, having just moved from New Orleans. He is swoon-worthy. He has an adorable little boy whose 4 yrs old and he is just as strong and fierce as Kat as. He loves his little boy and is a fierce protector. He loves hard.
Ms. Norman pairs her heroes and heroines up - alpha males to alpha heroines. Instead of the heroine having the baggage, it's the hero this time with baggage. I enjoyed reading how they worked out baggage(ex), family, friends, his adorable kid, her fears, romance, and going for more. Great addition to series. Can't wait for more books in this series.

My Rating: 4.5 stars ***********

Disclaimer: An eARC was provided via Wordsmith Publicity and the Author as part of the Blog Tour. The Thoughts, opinions & feelings expressed in the review are therefore, my own.

This was my first book by Danielle Norman and I have to say I am quite intrigued with the way this author’s mind works!

Knight Watch was a treat to read –
Kat is a leather wearing, motorcycle riding and a commitment-phobe cop who is absolutely ambivalent towards kids. All she needs is a good time in her life or stress relief in her life – she doesn’t need or want a man in her life beyond what he can do in the bedroom.

Jackson, single father with a psychotic ex needs a new lease on life, for him and for his adorable 4-year-old son, Julien – and now joined as a Bank Branch Manager in a whole new city, away from his past and for a new beginning!

Both Kat and Jackson are insanely attracted to each other the instant they cross paths – an attraction they both decide to act on, for one night and one night only! But when Jackson’s past collides with Kat’s present, especially after their encounter, that neither of them can ever forget – their lives take a turn that neither of them would have ever imagined!

I so enjoyed the progression of Jackson and Kat’s relationship – but actually earned my respect for the author’s talent was the fact that Kat didn’t magically turn into a mothering or nurturing woman – she stayed true to her original feelings about kids, especially after meeting Julien, she never lies or denies that kids aren’t on her plan, not to Jackson nor to herself!

It takes her time to understand that she could actually and does come to adore Julien like he deserves to be. And that is the main reason why their interactions were a treat to read and were the main reason why I enjoyed the book a lot more than I actually thought I would.

Add in to the plot, a twisted psychotic ex as well as a well meaning but very nosy & interfering boisterous family; you get a well rounded and a wonderful romantic suspense; that will make sure you keep an eye out for the next book in the series!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My least favorite book so far ...
There was potential for this romance (I really liked the Cajun banker / badass police couple =) ) but the story with the crazy ex was so incoherent and poorly put together that it ruined the romance for me (I found that Jackson could have taken more measures and earlier (damn she and when she reappears he is waiting for ... what ?!!), that the police officers had done nothing to help (a woman under surveillance disappears , no one warns the ex-husband...) and the final confrontation was so disjointed... (honestly, I didn't understand Jackson's logic !) and I didn't even see how the heroes could end up together (the ending was so unrealistic ...)
In short, a disappointment ... The other books were much better!
Having kept up with the Iron Orchards series (which includes the Iron Badges) I just knew Kat’s story was going to be a great one and Ms. Norman did not disappoint me. These ladies are something else. They are a force to be reckoned with on the job and a hoot off it. The books in this series are all so well written that I feel like I know these ladies and I’m just a part of the group.
Kat is a motorcycle police officer that takes her job as seriously as she does her single lifestyle. She has 4 sisters that keep her on her toes and of course her girl gang that keep her sane and often in trouble. She is very independent and despite her mother's constant interference, he has no desire for a husband or kids. But when she meets her new neighbor, Jackson, she starts to maybe rethink things, well that is until she learns he is a single dad with a looney ex.
Kat, Knight Watch has suspense, romance and lots of laughs. Julien, Jackson’s precocious 4 year old son stole my heart while the storyline kept me in tears of laughter and tense with suspense. I can’t recommend this book enough. It’s a total must read in my humble opinion, as are all the books in the Iron Orchids/Iron Badges series.
2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars.
4.5 Star review of Kat, Night Watch Badges (Iron Orchids #11) by Danielle Norman
I love this series about strong feisty women who are not afraid to put themselves out there. Kat and Jackson, could not be more different and yet somehow these two are well suited to one another.
Kat is a strong, sassy and feisty motorcycle deputy who avoids commitment, whilst Jackson is a single father to the oh so cute 4 year old Julien. He is also a bank manager, the total opposite to the leather wearing Kat.
I loved Kat and Jackson both individually but especially as a couple. I also fell hard and fast for little Julien and it was fun to watch Kat fall under his spell; who doesn’t like a storyline with a cute child? In fact I loved the relationship that developed between them
The chemistry between Kat and Jackson is intense as the attraction between them builds. Although the last thing Kat wants is to become involved with a single dad. There is also humour, heat, drama, suspense and was at times an emotional read as Ms. Norman delivers another well written and strong story.
So Kat is a motorcycle cop who knows what she wants when she wants it. She lives for her family and tries to make sure they are all safe. Middle of 2 older and 2 younger sisters she sometimes needs to have a break. Jackson moved to a new town to get away from all the crap his ex put him and his son through. Now he's met Kat and he can't stop thinking about her. She has been a constant, but he knows nothing can happen. Kat is so strong willed and I loved her take no crap attitude. But when things start happening to her and her family, Jackson is there for support. Now they know whose behind it. But let me tell you this book will give your heart a pounding for sure. Can Jackson protect his son and Kat? Or will it be to late?
Kat is a strong and independent motorcycle law enforcement officer who is brash and feisty. She has a great group of friends and her boisterous family which doesn’t leave much time for anything else until Jackson comes to her rescue.
Jackson is a single father to his four year old son Julian who wears corporate suits and has the job to go along with it. After his last relationship he isn’t looking to go down that road again but staying away from Kat is easier said than done.
These two couldn’t have been more different or more perfect for each other. Hot chemistry, humor, suspense and some surprises you don’t see coming but keep you entertained until the last page.
Damsel in distress? No way! Norman continues to flip the switch and create a new type of heroine. Kat is bad to the bone with the heart to back it up. Kat finds herself thrown off her game when she meets her match in her total opposite. Jackson is business suits. She's bad *** and leather. Will falling in love change the fighter she was always meant to be? Kat: Knight Watch is a fearless walk on the wild side. From sexy and sassy to emotionally, unpredictable. Kat and Ty bring the heat and the sweet.
This book is about what I've come to expect from this series. I liked how Kat and Jackson met and then how they acted on their attraction. I liked how Julian started to call Kat Oreo. Jackson's ex was a whack job!!! The stuff she pulled was just bat shit crazy! Part of me hates how things went down at the end, the role that Kat had, but another part of me is glad that she if finally out of their lives. But the best part of this one was the dualling cooking grandmas in the kitchen. I don't think there could be 2 such different styles of cooking.
Wonderful characters!
I absolutely love Kat. Her story did not disappoint at all! Kat is a strong Greek woman who comes across Jackson and his son Julien and gets drawn into some drama from Jacksons past. Julien is a funny little boy, you won't want to miss the things that come out of his mouth! Another great read!
At twenty-six, Kat Lappis is with Florida’s Orange County Sheriff's Department as a motorcycle deputy. She is in a tissy because her landlord decided to turn her apartment complex into overpriced condos. So, the discussion with her entire family is a little on the crazy side. Her parents and two youngest sisters want her back home. While her two eldest sisters, want her to stay with them. Her older sister’s won, by a long shot, because whoever wants to move back home once you've been on your own?
Once her decision is made she needs to hit the bank to pick up cash so she can meet her posse on time at Sixes. But, wouldn't you know if the ATM eats her card, not giving her the money either? It all works out, because of, Jackson Boudreaux, General Manager of, Southern City Bank, pops out of nowhere to help. The thing is when she walks out someone had trashed her bike with fast food left over. She was upset but thought it was kids.
While at, Sixes with her posse having some harmless fun, like playing song tagging. We tag all the guy pals, send each guy a text with a line from a song, and they must give you the next line. It drives them crazy a) because they can’t figure out who sent it, and b). After all, sometimes they don’t know the song. That is when, Max a fellow deputy, brings in his new neighbor, and friend, Jackson. Of course, Harley is all too willing, to give up her seat next to, Kat since they had all heard about, Jackson.
Drinks have them feeling good, and frisky for one another. And, Kat is only looking for a one-night stand anyway. So, when he’s gone in the morning all the better. But, when her sisters come into the house calling to her in panicked voices she is on high alert. They, however, beckon her out the front door, to show her something. Now, she's pissed, starting to wonder if the trashing and this, have a link in some way. She has to call it in.
Then, when she finds out, not by him, that he has a child he never mentioned, yeah she’s a little pissed. Her life seams to be more exciting since meeting, Jackson that’s for sure. It’s when things start being directed toward Kat’s family, that she has had enough. Fatal attraction move over. Very exciting read. Jackson’s ex is truly crazy. Follow this unique couple as they blend their families.
Danielle Norman has done it again.. Just when you think the books can not get any better they do. In Kat, Knight Watch Badges we meet Kat and Jackson. Kat is part of the Sheriffs department with the rest of the girls. One one day she gets off work and heads to the bank to get money to meet her friends at Sixes. But using the ATM proves to cause problems and this is where we meet Jackson for the first time. He has just moved and is the bank manager. The attraction is instant between the two. Later that night at the bar Max another officer brings his friend and neighbor with him and when Kat looks up its the sexy bank manager. Instant chemistry leads to what they though would be a one night stand but turns into much more. Till someone from Jacksons past starts threatening Kat and her family. (not trying to give out info) Will the DRAMA pull these two apart? You have got to read this to find out... So good. I laughed and I cried. SOOOO GOOOD..
First and foremost, this author is Petty Betty! I love reading the first few pages before dedication. You won't be disappointed.
I have read a lot of Danielle's books. They are quick reads. I wasn't a fan of her writing style the first 8 books haha after reading this one I realized I might actually be a fan. Ha! The characters are strong, relatable, the plot is fun and moves along smooth. The girl gang is always a hoot! I want to go to Walmart and play CAH with them in real life. The men's dialogue is where I disconnect. It's super cringe when they're trying to be sweet, angry and dirty.. yikes, the ladies she has nailed down though. I enjoy how the author builds the foundation, hits the climax and resolves the issue quickly instead of trying to push out another 3k words with angst filled conflict between the lovers. Don't get me wrong, I'm here for that! It's a nice change when it's a slow burn or quick rump in the sheets, ooh they're emotionally charged, oh no danger Will Robinson, "I love you", epilogue. Ugh perfection. Keep it short and sweet.
Each book in this series is simply awesome. Each hero and heroine are fit for each other while being wonderfully imperfect (ya know ... so you don't hate them for being too perfect).
Danielle's books have all the elements you want in a book ... comedy, drama, smexy times, heartfelt emotion, the right amount of conflict, and of course the happy ending.
The heroines are strong women who don't need saving or fixing and the heroes are alpha males who don't need to be taken care of or their egos pampered. So what you get is two people who make their lives work together ... they take care of each other, they save each other, and they help each other fix what they want to fix. So basically ... relationship goals :)
I am, as always, eagerly awaiting the next book in this fabulous series. If you haven't picked up any of these books do so ... they do NOT have to be read in any particular order but I do recommend reading from the beginning for the fullest picture of all the characters.
I loved this one so much. Heck I love the whole Iron Orchids books and all the lovely ladies. But this is Kat's book. She is fierce as a motorcycle cop. She is loyal to her ladies and her family. She is so strong and who would of though a single father would bring her to her knees. Jackson is a single father who is trying everything he can to protect his son from his ex wife. You will love the chemistry between Jackson and Kat. Even with the added drama he brings into her life you still will love them together. Even watching Kat change as she spends more time with Julien will just melt your heart. All the heart squeezes in this one. I love what Danielle Norman brings with all her books. I seriously can't get enough and I love the little nod to her new books under the Stella Lang books. Go pick those up too. You will not be disappointed in anything that Danielle Norman brings to the table.
When it comes to the iron orchids, it just can’t get any better. Danielle Norman has created a world full of laughter, love, suspense, and orneriness. These characters settle themselves deep into your heart and make you fall in love with each book. This book is no different.
Strong, alpha females; men who want to love them with everything they have. Family that will do anything, regardless if they’re blood or not. These books all have these same themes and it will make you so happy. Danielle is one I always one click and buy every time. She never disappoints.
Kat is one strong police biker. Jackson comes I to town and blows her world apart. They are both gun shy and find fun with each other. When the past comes back into Jackson’s life, Kat’s world gets thrown apart. Add in Julien to the mix and you have one complete, crazy, big family and story that will melt your heart. I absolutely love these families and how close they are.
Another 5+ star read for Danielle Norman!
Wow, wow, wow.
I really don't understand how Danielle Norman can consistently write books with amazing characters who feel like real people.
Kat Lappis is on the motors squad with other members of the Iron Orchids. Kat is also a member of another large Greek family, this time with all-girl siblings, unlike our lovable Christakos family (Books 1-6).
Jackson Boudreaux is a smooth-talking, suit-wearing, born and bred Louisiana man. Jackson and his son, Julien, moved in two doors down from Kat's sisters' house.
Kat and Jackson first meet by chance at Jackson's work. Lucky for them, they run into one another at Sixes Bar and Grill later that night. Kat and Jackson's immediate attraction heats up and just doesn't quit. Like all of the other Iron Orchids, Kat has to fight just as hard to get her happily ever after.
Awesome new book in the Iron Badges series‼️‼️‼️ Kat & Jackson’s story is filled with such intense moments from hot steamy sex to suspenseful drama. Jackson is a single dad who manages the local bank having just relocated from New Orleans. Kat is a badass Orange County deputy who’s part of the Motors (Harleys) team and rides a kickass motorcycle. She doesn’t like kids and never wants to have any. These two characters are like oil & water. How can they possibly find any common ground together? But one hot night that was supposed to just that - One Night Only - leaves them both wanting more. The reader might think they know what’s coming but shock and surprises will result instead. The other Iron Badges & Orchids characters are an integral part of the interactions as well which adds a deeper & familiar dimension to the story. A definite MUST READ! Highly recommended!
Ms. Norman is one of my go to authors and she has delivered another exceptional read with this book. It is the eleventh in the Iron Orchids and fourth in the Iron Badges series. Kat is a motorcycle cop who is loyal to her friends and has a large family. Jackson is a single father doing everything in his power to protect his son from his psychotic ex-wife. From the first time these two connect, readers can see that the sparks are going to fly which is confirmed as these two seem to be thrown together. Is it fate? Kat is under the impression that there are things in her life that are definite deal breakers. Are Jackson and his son the two who can get Kat to rethink her opinion? This is one high octane read that will keep readers glued to their seats until the end. I volunteered to read a copy of this book.
I am so loving this series from Danielle she is honestly gives us such amazing kick-ass heroines that I absolutely love!!
I have so missed these insane women! honestly I love them, they make my heart swell and make me laugh so much!!
Each of these women totally deserve a strong Alpha male who can make them soar even more and totally embrace their special brand of crazy !!
Jackson was the hot new bank manager that will make you totally swoon, although I think his son Julian really steals my heart more!
As always there is Danielle's trademark humour, wit and steam mixed with action and drama making you want to devour this in one go!
(4.5 stars)
Kat never wanted anything serious, always up for a one night only type of thing. Kids? They were good, when they belonged to other people. So when Kat meets Jackson and the bolt of lightening strikes, she fights it with all she has. When she finds out that Jackson comes with a bit of baggage…. one that is almost four and named Julian, she is definitely fighting the pull. But she just can't seem to shake Jackson, or the madness that seems to be following him. When Jackson's past starts to create some really crazy drama, will Kat stick it out or will she give up when the going gets tough?
This was such a good story! I loved the drama, danger, hot naughty bits, and the craziness that seems to always surround these girls. This was super entertaining and I give this 4.5 stars.
This author has done it again!! I can’t believe she can write such unique plots and storylines for the 11th book in the series, but she does. She always writes such powerful and independent woman and Kat is no exception there. Kat is a member of the motor squad and Iron Orchids. Jackson is a Louisiana man, born and bred, suit wearing and smooth talking man. Him and his son Julien moved in two doors down from Kat’s sister. These two characters, like oil and water butt heads at every turn. With all the twists and turns and drama it kept my head on a swivel. I highly, highly recommend this book!!! I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next!
Absolutely FABBO. As always Danielle Norman give us a kick ass woman and the man who convinces her that love is not only possible but well worth the trouble. He's a single dad with a precocious son and a psycho ex, while Kat is a motorbike cop who dislikes kids and is just after a quick one nighter... Oh and she has a big overly involved family.
I love the story and I love the newest pranks the #notagang come up with. It's always great to see what Danielle will come up with next. She never gets stale, never lacks for ideas, hot men and quirky sarcastic women.
This book was fast-paced, entertaining, funny, suspenseful, steamy and sweet. Kat is a Greek 26 year old single woman who preaches that she doesn't need a man and doesn't do children. That is until she meets Jackson Boudreau, a 34 year old man who has a 6 year old boy. Unfortunately scary things start to happen that threaten everything. I loved the story and was happy to read Kat's story. I liked the audiobooks but Kat did not sound like she did in the other books narration. That was a bit weird to me.
I loved this book so much.
Love the interaction between Kat and her sister about the prom dresses.
One of my most favourite part was the scenes between Oreo and Julien. They are so heartwarming considering how she feels about kids.
When Kat and Kaydon's moms go to the bank and check out Jackson was priceless.
Also the interaction between Kat and Jackson's mom in the kitchen was a LOL moment.
Thanks for writing another amazing story.
Another well written, entertaining, fast moving Iron Orchids Badges book. Kat is Greek, the middle sister of five and a motorcycle deputy. Jackson is Cajun, a bank manager, new to town and has lots of baggage. Kat decides she wants a one night stand with Jackson. She doesn't do relationships or want children. Jackson doesn't want a relationship either, but one night just isn't enough.
Friends, family, Mothers, sisters, a precocious child and a crazy ex,this book has it all.
Kat, Knight Watch Badges by Danielle Norman is the Iron Orchids Book 11.
Meet Kate and Jackson and their touching, raw and gritty story.
Kat is part of the police force and Jackson is new in town and the banks new manager.
Both meet and sparks fly. Jackson is a single dad, a southern gentleman to a t.
Kat is a strong heroine who knows what she wants and how to get it, so the perfect match.
A weel written , highly entertaining read that made me read it in one sitting.
4,5 beautiful stars.
I will take any and every opportunity to dive back into the Iron Orchid’s world. Danielle makes you part of the gang and never ceases to take you on a rollercoaster of experiences and emotions through every chapter.
Kat’s story wasn’t what was expected but is just as sassy and satisfying as the rest of the series! This next Iron Orchids chapter will keep you on your toes until the very end! I’m looking forward to reading Harley’s story which I’ve been dying to read since the prequel!
This was my first book by Danielle Norman, and I thoroughly enjoyed her writing. She wrote a romance story with a bit of a suspenseful twist. It was easy to fall in love with the characters, and the their entire family. Kat has always been independent women, and definitely wasn’t looking for a husband. She’s enjoying her life as a cop. When she meets Jackson, she think’s hell be the perfect one night stand. Jackson has a lot going on in his life, but the most important thing is his son. Meeting Kat was a happy surprise though. They have wonderful chemistry. This book was an easy read that was hard to put down. It’s a definite must on your TBR list.
I received an ARC for a honest review.
