Madeline is pursuing the artistic side of her personality while working at a photo studio. Due to her past and her self-confidence issues she is an introvert who preferred to stand back and watch rather than participate until Tobias came into her life.

Tobias has his own agenda for working at the studio and he can’t afford to be distracted by Madeline but when she becomes part of his investigation, he will do whatever is necessary to keep her safe.

Intrigue and romance combine as Madeline and Tobias’s search for the truth draws you in and has you invested in the outcome of the story.

This story was a no go for me. The characters and plot were insufferable. The story line could have been good but it was all over the place. The characters were all morons and half the characters fell of the face of the earth in the story. There was a ton of fluff in it too. It was painful trying to read it.

Madeline was pathetic. The more she tried to prove she "wasn't a naive child," the more immature she actually acted. In fact I felt all the characters were immature.

Preston/Tobias was weak. For a seasoned detective he never got a single thing right. Even with distractions or being blinded by self-fish motives you'd think he would have some decency, but no, he was terrible. He wasn't a strong, sexy, hero. He was a manipulative, lying, self-fish, asshat.

Their love story made no sense at all. There was no spark, no fireworks, no chemistry. Just a girl acting like a high schooler crushing on a boy in an almost obsessive manner. And she was in love with him just by looking at him. She was basically a nuisance and his doormat.

Welcome to my stop on the Finding Peace Blog Tour hosted by Xpresso Book Tours. My first Alaine Greyson book is number 3 in the series and I recommend you read the previous books so you are up to speed with the many characters and past references.

Undercover FBI Agent Tobias (Preston) Sawyer' and local socialite and artist, Madeline Grant are an unlikely pair. Though Madeline seems naive at first, her assistance in a local mystery involving five dead girls brings her out of her shell and gets the attention she wants both from Tobias and the killer. However, I found it a bit silly having her be an amateur sleuth with no prior experience and interest in detective work. Tobias is too close to the case and his distraction with Madeline makes it worse so it's inevitable that the whole thing would get messy. In my opinion, his professionalism and so-called savviness as a Fed were uncompelling and lacking. After all, Madeline was finding out things he should have seen.

As for Madeline's friends and family, there were many. Because I didn't read the previous books in the series, it was slow going and it took a while to figure out who was who and what was going on. I almost stopped reading, but it does start to pick up the pace and ends with a dramatic climax.

Overall, this book is a slow-building romantic suspense novel with many diverse characters and a complex and interesting, plotline.

Thank you to Ms. Greyson for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

This book follows Tobias Sawyer and Madeline Grant who are working for a photographer. Secretly in their own way they are doing more than just photography they are both looking into a case to find who knows what? But will they figure it out? Or will they finally find each other?

All Madeline wants is for her brother and father to get along and to be her own woman. While interning at a photography office she meets Tobias under the name of Preston. She finds herself attracted to him but will he like her with her scars and all?

Tobias is determined to get to the bottom of what happened to his sister and who hurt her. Is it a dirty cop or someone else entirely?

This book had a lot of sneakiness going one which makes it very interesting wondering if they will figure out who the bad guy is and if Tobias gets enough information to nail the bad person? It's definitely a great book for people in their twenties/thirties!

I couldn't get into this one, just wasn't for me. I found it difficult to relate to the characters. I gave up at around 1/3 through. I'm sure others will love this book, the story just wasn't for me. Would possibly appeal to a younger audience.
