ICPerMed Recognition 2023 - fostering personalised medicine implementation through research

04 October 2023 - The ICPerMed Best Practice Recognition yearly aims at encouraging and disseminating best practice examples of implementation in personalised medicine and accelerating and maximising the potential impact of the research findings and learnings gained on implementation in PM.

This year, in a timeframe of two months, from February to April, we received 21 applications from all around the world, presenting proposals published and/or developed between January 1st, 2021 and December 31st, 2022, consisting of one or more of the following: 

  1. Scientific paper focused on novel approaches for the implementation of PM 
  2. Training programmes for health personnel, increasing the level of awareness on the potential of PM 
  3. Examples of interdisciplinary or inter-sectoral groups of collaboration (governmental and nongovernmental organizations, academic management, medical research and Health Care and Industry for the Implementation of PM, including Ethical, Legal and Social Issues (ELSI) activities).

A panel of experts reviewed the proposals giving a score for each of the following criteria: 

  1. Knowledge Production
  2. Research capacity - building and targeting 
  3. Informing policy and practice
  4. Population health and health sector benefits 
  5. Economic impacts

The first authors of these works will be invited as special ICPerMed lecturers to the 2023 ICPerMed Workshop 'Advancing PM through Technology Development' which will take place in Siena on November 14th and 15th and will be given the opportunity to present their results during a plenary session to stakeholders interested in the area of PM. Travel costs related to the awardees will be covered by ICPerMed. In addition, the successful candidates will receive a € 500 worth non – cash support for the dissemination of their best practice examples.
