Are you familiar with the Carbon Designer Tool from #IrishGreenBuildingCouncil? Fourth year students in Technological University Dublin learned how to utilize the valuable resource in a hands-on workshop last month. The Carbon Designer tool estimates the carbon impact of projects and shows the differences that can be made to overall carbon impact by exploring various material options for large elements like walls, floors, and roofs. Learning about these sustainable practices equips future graduates with the knowledge and tools needed to address environmental challenges in the built environment.

How important is landscape, from fields to the mountains and the sea, when it comes to architecture and the build environment? A body of research is being progressed within the SABRE Research Centre, exploring different perspectives and themes relating to landscape research. Using local regions in County Waterford as case studies, the transdisciplinary research papers were outlined by Dr Sharon O’Brien, Dr Jane Russell-O’Connor and Dr Emily Shakespeare at the National Landscape Forum.
