'There's nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come', as Victor Hugo wrote in the 1840s. New ideas are from every time and do have socio-cultural, (geo)political and economic impact. Transition, shifts within international relationships, politics, technology, science, ecology, economy and culture... and all connected to each other give us new opportunities, new challenges... that's where foresight strategy and trendforecasting is about.
I am trained as historian (specialized in European cultural - and socio-economical history) and publisher and work for more than 25 years as trendresearcher and foresight expert/ developer. My work varies from building knowledge- and information networks to strategic foresight analysis to more short term trend research - the most dynamic part of future thinking. What can we expect on short term? A risk based approach, with a strong focus on those possibilities that lie ahead! Opportunities - possible, probable and preferable.... call it.

Together with Rabobank's Banking for Food we produced this book Today’s Farmers about the many innovations, initiatives and solutions today’s creative farmers have come up with to give the production of food new momentum and to make sure there will be enough food while still maintaining significant levels of sustainability.
