Blaschka Renaissance - digitalizing intangible cultural heritage using motion capture technology. Cerfav, a renowned French training center for glass techniques, is at the forefront of preserving the unique artistry of blowtorch glass blowing using #Xsens #motioncapture. In the project, a master craftsman, wearing an Xsens Link suit and Xsens Metagloves by MANUS™, recreated a remarkable glass artwork reminiscent of the intricate pieces crafted by 19th-century German glassblower Léopold Blaschka. This groundbreaking project marks the beginning of an experimental process aimed at digitizing the intricate gestures of traditional craftsmanship. By combining creative remanufacturing with the recording of intangible objective data, the project seeks to honor and preserve the rich heritage of artisanal skills for future generations.

AugmentX@FlandersMake is using #Xsens Awinda #motioncapture suit to accurately capture the motion data of workers' everyday movements in shipping facilities on site, thanks to Xsens sensors' magnetic immunity. The BoB Biomechanics integration allows the researchers to visualize how the picking up and lowering motion influences the compressive force and joint torque in the worker's lower back. The insights from the analysis allow to develop preventive solutions for workplace safety, such as using exoskeletons to ease the lower back load.

The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology utilized #Xsens motion capture technology to command Torobo, a humanoid robot, and gather human movement data for neural network training.   Check out this video for a demonstration of a neural network (PV-RNN) controlled Torobo. In this clip, the #robot responds to the position of a red block in front of it, seamlessly reaching out with either its left or right hand. The neural network generated the position of each joint, resulting in smooth trajectories that mirrored natural human movement in real time.
