GSAPS conducts the scholarship admission scheme. Applicants are able to apply for admission and a scholarship at the same time and also to know the result of scholarship nomination before matriculation. Some scholarships offered through this scheme are full scholarships which cover tuition fees and offer the monthly stipend. Application conditions depend on each scholarship. Waseda University Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies International Relations Program was selected for the International Priority Graduate Program (PGP) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). The PGP program, which was created by MEXT to support programs which have international appeal to foreign students, provides priority allocation for government financed foreign students. The Program will continue from AY 2024 to AY 2026. A detailed outline of the selected program and the application procedure are as follows.

・Embassy Recommendation

An embassy recommended, government sponsored international student is a student who applies to receive a government scholarship through the Japanese embassy or consulate in their home country. Please refer to CIE (Center of International Education, Waseda University) Website.

Students should apply for the scholarship at the Japanese embassy or consulate. The Embassy or consulate select students through document screening, examination and interviews. Please contact the Japanese embassy or consulate for further details.

・Domestic Selection

This is the government sponsored scholarship for private financed international students who are enrolled as regular degree-seeking students at Waseda University. This scholarship will apply only AFTER matriculation.
