Increased Risks for Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall in the South-central U.S. Today

An Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe thunderstorms is forecast today in the lower Missouri River Valley. Very large hail, damaging wind gusts, and a couple strong tornadoes are possible. There is an Enhanced Risk for severe thunderstorms this afternoon through this evening for Southeast Oklahoma and portions of Northeast Texas and extreme Southwest Arkansas. Isolated to scattered severe storms will be possible over these areas. Very large hail (possibly up to 2.5 inches in diameter), tornadoes, and damaging winds will be possible.
The risk for severe thunderstorms exists again Saturday night for portions of Northeast texas, Southeast Oklahoma, and Southwest Arkansas, and expands over much of the region Sunday. Stay tuned to the latest forecasts, and review your severe weather safety plan with the potential severe weather threat increasing later this weekend.
Showers and thunderstorms will increase later this morning through the afternoon across Northeast Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, and Southwest Arkansas. Isolated strong to severe storms can't be ruled out before diminishing this evening.
Very warm and humid conditions are expected today, especially away from the cloudy and rain cooled areas of Northeast Texas, Southeast Oklahoma, and Southwest Arkansas. Look for temperatures to range from the mid to upper 70s northwest, to the mid 80s southeast.
